Windows11c1 1040 Xp Driver

Date: Wed, 14 Apr 2010 19:59:09 -0700 (PDT) Package: 1. System is Toshiba, Satellite, L300; Original OS Windows Vista. Toshiba claims NO proprietary FIRMWARE for wireless or 'soft'modem. Made CD set of 31 package and 6 update discs. On install, (Graphical or Graphical Expert or Rescue,) Reloaded multiple times using different install means; Can NOT configure Network, Does NOT find Wireless OR Modem.

(I can understand it NOT finding the softmodem, supplied by Agere, possibly since it is located on,(according to windows,) 'location 1 (Internal High Definition Audio Bus)' and has a hardware ID of HDAudio Func02&VEN11C1&DEV1040$SUBSYS11790001&REV1002.) 5. AFTER install 'Device manager' pkg shows Ethernet controller, but system will NOT activate controller. Unit is Intel, RTL8101E/RTL8102E, PCI Express Fast Ethernet Controller.

(According to Intel, and Linux sources, the drivers are IN the Kernal!) 5. 'Device manager' ALSO shows Wireless WiFi Link 5100 - Intel, BUT NO INTERFACE. It does NOT show up on 'Net Manager' AT ALL. Modem simply NOT found 7. Install FINDS Bluetooth, WHICH I DO NOT HAVE!!! The above leaves me with NO POSSIBLE Internet connection using Debian, even IF I had anything but dial-up. NOTE: 'Device manager' pkg is able to give information ONLY, and then very little.

Pretty graphics though. (I expected it to HELP with problems, based on description given. Like maybe find and install drivers!) Package suggestions: 1.

Remove Floppy formatter from 'Gnome Utilities' pkg. And make separate as NO NEW SYSTEMS even have a floppy anymore, and in some it can NOT be added! Remove Ekiga Softphone from 'Gnome Desktop Environment' pkg and make separate. NEITHER of these can be REMOVED WITHOUT messing up the entire system, and the OTHER applications removed can NOT, in some cases, be reloaded separately. It is an ALL or NOTHING situation!! Please separate the games it loads by default so you can remove them one at a time. Package install problems: ITEM: IF I use ONLY Disc 1 for install, there is NO 'Add/Remove Applications' OR 'Synaptics package manager AND NO WAY to check the set to FIND the needed files to install them.

(I tried!!) IF I 'list' the entire set during the install, It loads both GOOD and BAD in some respects. See above regarding removals that can NOT be done WITHOUT messing up the entire system. Regarding Loading Packages, the following will either NOT load or will NOT run AFTER loading. I did NOT try to figure out where the errors were as most use multiple files from multiple discs in the set.

Games: Adanaxis - Loads but doesn't work. Extreme Tux Racer - Loads, but can't be run as it has screen resolution problems with Laptop.

Sabre - Loads but won't run Search and Rescue - Loads, but Default sound system for game is NOT the sound system loaded, so NO sound. ALSO, does NOT clear screen when setting options, which means you can't 'see' what you are doing VERY quickly. (Did NOT try to proceed beyond this.) Torcs - Has loading problems. Trigger Auto Racing - Loads but won't run. Internet: Network Selector - Loads but won't run RutilT WLAN manager - Can't find interface (Understandable) WIFI Radar - Loads, BUT (possibly due to system NOT finding WIFI), starts and shutsdown without ever putting up a screen. (NOTE: Windows version WILL put up screen even with Wireless turned off MANUALLY!) Other: Touchpad - (Tried this because I use mouse and would LIKE to turn off touchpad.) Loads - can't run because 'Manually set 'true' in SHMconfig in xorg.conf or x-86Config'.

AFTER some searching found xorg.conf. THERE IS NO SUCH ITEM TO SET IN THE FILE, and the file clearly states, DO NOT EDIT. Since I did NOT load everything, I did NOT check everything. It would appear that many of these programs need further work or their dependencies are incorrect. Some that DO work require files from over 8 separate discs, before they quit loading due to dependencies. Install FINDS Bluetooth, WHICH I DO NOT HAVE!!! The above leaves me with NO POSSIBLE Internet connection using Debian, even IF I had anything but dial-up. Thanks, and sorry for the slow response. If we're lucky, the Ethernet driver problem was, which was fixed in version 2.6.32-36 of the kernel package. That fix was included in the Debian 6.0.3 point release.

The lack of support for your wifi card is, fixed in 2.6.28 (and hence in Debian 6 which uses a 2.6.32 based kernel, too). There have been some reports of your softmodem (11c11040, agrsm) working under Linux. We unfortunately do not have the complete source code to or non-discriminatory distribution rights for the driver. When you build it, you get: WARNING: could not find /var/lib/dkms/agrsm-11c1208/build/.agrmodemlib.o.cmd for /var/lib/dkms/agrsm-11c1208/build/agrmodemlib.o FATAL: modpost: GPL-incompatible module agrmodem.ko uses GPL-only symbol 'sndhdacodecwrite' make1:.

modpost Error 1 Maybe someone at LSI can help clear this up, or maybe there will need to be a reverse-engineering effort. Reassigning to kernel to track this. Reference: agrsm-11c11040-2.1.1.tar.bz2 from. Adanaxis - Loads but doesn't work. Extreme Tux Racer - Loads, but can't be run as it has screen resolution problems with Laptop.

If you get a chance to try Debian 6, I'd be happy to look into the GPU and touchpad problems. Hope that helps, Jonathan. I sold it MORE than 6 months ago! No problem.

Do you mind if I forward this information to the bug logso others know to look for someone else with the same modem before working on a patch to test?. Yes you can forward the information. Please also note that the modem chip manufacturer states that they do NOT supply ANY operating software for the chip; they supply ONLY the chip. Also, the keyboard on this model is very cheap, (which is why I got rid of it;) they just can't stand up to constant usage, and are very expensive to replace. Have a nice week.

Subject: From: Bjorn Wielens Date: Fri, 1 Aug 2008 06:21:38 -0400 (EDT) Hi George, Welcome to the 11c11040 club:) You say the module snd-hda-intel.ko is not created. Usually it is in /usr/src/linux/sound/pci/hda, if 'make modules' is successful. However, without more info, there's not much I can tell you, so please re-run the 'make modules' command (You may need root permission for this, either through su or sudo), and copy/paste the output in to your reply.
