Sony Vaio Pcg 7q1n Drivers
When I first downloaded Windows 7, the resolution was something like 1024 x 786 (or whatever the number order is). I was told to update my video card, but since I can't afford to do that, I dealt with it. It was annoying, but I got used to it. A few months later, I turned on my computer and it had magically fixed itself. The resolution was back to normal, my DVDs would play, yaddah yaddah. It stayed like that for a few more months. Then, yesterday, I turned my computer on and it was back to having a tiny resolution.
It tells me I need to update my video card driver, but when I did, it said that it was fine. Now I'm lost because I've done everything I know how to do whether it be updates or installs.
I'd really like to avoid forking over the cash (that I don't have) for a new video card so anyone knows how fix this problem on a Sony Vaio PCG-6L1L (VGN-SZ230P) (an ancient computer, I know), can you please help (with step by step instructions if possible)? I would start with re-installing the video drivers, both of them. From looking at the specs for that model laptop (click on Marketing Specifications to view the pdf), it has both the Intel 950 (chipset Intel 945GM) and the Nvidia Go 7400, If that is in fact what it has I would start with the Intel driver first, and then install the Nvidia driver second (it's a beta, looks like Nvidia dropped support for it), They may not install as Sony is somewhat anal about allowing manufacturer's reference drivers to be used without them (Sony) first doing whatever it is they do to the INF's (they can't mod the drivers themselves, just the INF's). If neither of those work you can try the Sony provided Vista drivers from ehre. Ok, So after looking through several forums, not any could help me out really, so here is what I did that worked for me.
Im using a gateway T-1680 laptop. I upgraded to Windows 7 of course and cannot see my ATI Radeon X1270. As a standard I went to the support site for gateway and I could not find any Windows 7 drivers for any application or hardware on my laptop. Long story short, I took a chance. I downloaded the lastest driver for my video card on the list, which in this case was a 32bit Vista (im on 32bit Windows 7) and it extracts into a cab folder in C: directory. I launched the setup and bam!
Installed and configured my graphics card. Now I look in device manager and I see my ATI recognized!! Hope this helps dudes! Similar help and support threads Thread Forum Hello, this is my first post here:P I need some help.
I play minecraft, before i installed windows 7, i used windows XP (My computer was originally designed for XP) I could play minecraft fine, but now it says 'Bad Video Card Drives!' It told me to update them, it's already up to date it told me.
